The neocolonialism of scaling-up rubber production for fashion in the Amazon

Despite the challenges of the largest rainforest of the world, new social technologies of rubber have been developed, connecting enterprises, NGOs, universities, rubber tappers, cooperatives, indigenous peoples, and multilateral banks, in the name of sustainable development. However, their partnerships still repeat old-fashioned practices of colonialism, while deforestation rates increase.
