Insecta ecoshoes pause operations in Brazil
Renowned Brazilian ecoshoes brand sold its last shoes in February 2024. Costumers complain about lack of response, notifications, and the delivery of shoes
Launched in 2014, Insecta shoes became a case of success in the competitive Brazilian footwear market. The marketing strategies were efficient:
- great visual appeal on Instagram,
- communicating that the shoes were vegan (like Veja does, and all brands that do not use leather could do the same),
- communication that they were using textile waste (not sure if for all shoes) and other ecotextiles,
- sharing values like “ecosexy”, feminism and veganism, while promoting the ‘green’ consumerism of shoes.
The company scaled up very fast. From 2015 to 2019, they produced 28.000 shoes.
The storytelling during the apogee, in 2019, can be read on FashionUnited, where a post costs around 800 dollars to be published: Vegan fashion: Brazilian brand Insecta Shoes wants to take over EU and North America
Now cut the scene to 10 years later: the customers are complaining on the Brazilian Insecta Instagram page that:
- they cannot follow-up the order
- there is no code to track the product
- the product was not delivered
- there is no technical assistance for the clients
- company is not checking the e-mails (although the company replies some comments)
- product was not delivered on time
- and other problems
Although the international Insecta Instagram page is not updated since 2021, the international website is still selling the products.
We are waiting the company to be more transparent.
