Fashion For Good Museum launches magazine ‘Knowing Cotton Otherwise’

AMSTERDAM, 19 December 2023 – Today the Fashion for Good Museum launches a unique magazine: ‘Knowing Cotton Otherwise’. The magazine entails a mix of interviews, columns and essays that explore different perspectives around cotton, the fashion industry and the impact on people and our planet. From history, slavery, consumer behaviour and sustainable innovations, no cotton story remains untold.

Cotton is perhaps the world’s most well-known fabric, with a tangled, global history of more than 400 years. Many stories behind cotton are less known. These untold stories and unexpected perspectives have been collected and brought together in ‘Knowing Cotton Otherwise’, the exhibition that was on display from October 2022 until October 2023 in the Fashion for Good Museum. To ensure all of these exhibition stories and more, are cherished and shared, the Fashion for Good Museum team have created this unique magazine to celebrate and showcase the work of several innovators, designers and creative artists and their relationship with cotton.

The magazine costs 22.95 EUR, is bilingual in Dutch and English and contains almost 200 pages of untold cotton stories and is also a useful tool for school teachers. The stories are told from a local as well as an international lens. It’s available in the Fashion for Good Museum and selected stores throughout The Netherlands.
