Are your clothes sustainable?
Second hand?
Eco materials?
Local Production?
Fair trade?
High quality to last for decades?
Guidelines for a sustainable outfit
- Prefer wearing second-hand clothes;
- Avoid conventional cotton and polyester (together they represent 80% of all fibers in the world; only cotton uses 16% of all pesticides for crops, and a lot of water in irrigation);
- Prefer fibers like organic cotton, linen, hemp, recycled polyester, seaweed, etc. You can check the information in the tag of your clothes;
- Wash and iron as less as possible;
- Share a capsule wardrobe or just some clothes and accessories with friends and family;
- Don’t buy fast fashion (Zara, H&M, C&A, etc).
This social media campaign is part of the project: “Transmedia Sustainable Fashion made in Brazil – Documenting the Roundtable at COP27 UN Climate Change Conference and exploring creative strategies to communicate scientific research”. The project is sponsored by the research group Civic Innovation at the International Institute of Social Studies (Erasmus University of Rotterdam), with partnership of the NGO Responding to Climate Change (RTCC), and the agency Ethical Fashion Brazil.
